Nutritional Information

What happens when a persons diet frequently comes from foods that don't have nutritional information stamped on the side of it?

It is something to think about, although I (as well as most others) are not too terribly concerned about the fact that foods that don't are good for you anyway.  That's me holding two oranges and also standing in front of a grapefruit tree in Sun City West, AZ. I wasn't thinking about how many calories from fat are in these oranges or how much jiggle they'd give my arms. Those oranges were delicious.

So what kind of information do we look for when we are looking at the nutritional label found on the packaging of so many labels? Mostly calories, sodium and sugars. That's pretty much the only things that I am concerned with. But who gets to write that stuff anyway. Believe it or not,  good ol' governmental employees in the FDA ( Food and Drug Administration). I would like to think that they're accurate, but hey, who is keeping them accountable?

If you do want to know about fresh foods and their dietary content, you can get the governments opinion  on what these foods have in them: fda.gov

Well Im FRESH out of things to talk about for today. (Pun intended)
How about some love in the form of comments OK?

  1. Hey, given the choices between oranges and candy, an orange is WAAAAY better. While it may have sugar like candy does it also contains many necessary vitamins and antioxidants. =)
